As a 501c3 non-profit organization, Friends of the Shelter does qualify for grant funding. We wish to thank those entities that have recognized the importance and impact of our ongoing work by selecting Friends of the Shelter as grant award recipients.
The grant will assist in funding the community outreach program, The Fix, which provides low cost canine spay and neuter services to reclaimed shelter dogs and low income residents of Central Ohio as another innovative service of the FCDS.
“This grant from the Kenneth A. Scott Charitable Trust will allow for expansion of The Fix services, which are anticipated to result in an additional 150 community based dogs to be altered in 2008,” said Friends of the Shelter Director Ellen Mrochek. Last year The Fix made possible the altering of nearly 400 dogs.
The FOTS-funded Fix and other medical programs and services of the FCDS that directly aid shelter dogs are not funded by local tax dollars.
