Friends of the Shelter is an all volunteer 501c3 non-profit group established to coordinate the fundraising activities that directly benefit the dogs of the Franklin County Dog Shelter.
The Franklin County Dog Shelter receives annual funding allotted from the county budget. In addition, the shelter generates funds through the sale of licenses and redemption fees. However, these 2 sources of funding are not adequate to address medical care for the dogs who arrive at the shelter in need of more than just basic services. From this, the idea for Friends of the Shelter was born.
The primary expense for Friends of the Shelter is medical/surgical/ recuperative infirmary care for dogs who come to the shelter sick, injured or neglected or become sick or injured while in our care.
Friends of the Shelter is an all volunteer group composed of generous individuals in our community who donate their expertise to the day to day operations of the organization as well as planning and facilitating fundraising events, marketing and public relations projects, and accounting and legal guidance. As an all volunteer group, the organization is able to keep overhead very low, allowing the majority of donations to help our needy shelter dogs.
Friends of the Shelter is a 501c3 non-profit group. Donations are tax deductible.
